2011 Scholarship Recipients
The Savannah Post awarded five (5) $3,000 college scholarships at the July 2011 monthly lunch meeting to:
- Randy Fender – GA Tech (Student Chapter President, past VP), previously awarded
- Rebekah Sheffield – GA Tech (Student Chapter past Secretary)
- Andrew Bersson – University of Alabama, previously awarded
- Amber Gatling – Albany State University, previously awarded
- Zach Messick – Wando High School, planning to attend Clemson, first time award
2010 Scholarship Recipients
The Savannah Post awarded four (4) $3,000 college scholarships at the July 2010 monthly lunch meeting to:
- Mr. Randy Fender (GT-S Student Chapter Vice President)
- Mr. Andrew M. Bersson (2d year recipient)
- Mr. Matthew Bersson
- Ms. Amber Gatling
2009 Scholarship Recipients
The Savannah Post awarded three (3) $3,000 college scholarships at the September 2009 monthly lunch meeting to:
- Taylor N. Lucas, of Columbia, SC
- Lavondra D. Foxx, of Savannah, GA
- Andrew M. Bersson, of Roswell, GA
Ms. Lucas is a freshman at the University of South Carolina studying civil/environment engineering. Ms. Foxx is a student at Savannah State University, Savannah, GA studying mathematics, and is working part-time for USACE Savannah District. Mr. Bersson is a freshman at the University of Alabama studying biology.
2008 Scholarship Recipients
The SAME Savannah post awarded two $5,000 college scholarships at the September 15th meeting; one each to Don Huls and Nick Reynolds.
Don is a George Tech civil engineering major. Upon graduation he plans to attend NAVY OCS following on to the Navy Civil Engineering Corps. Don served in the Army until 2002 and is a current member of the 246th Army NG band. Don is married (wife is Christina) with a 5-week old son, James.
Nick is a GA Tech civil engineering major graduating this spring. Nick is a member of the Phi Kapp Phi honor society and is currently serving as President of the Society. Nick will work for the Air Force as a civil engineer in Washington state upon graduation. Nick worked at the Savannah District Corps of Engineers as an engineering technician/co-op student. Nick's parents are Ken & Cindy Reynolds.
2007 Scholarship Recipients
The Savannah Post awarded four scholarships to four students at our July 2007 lunch meeting. Scholarships were given to:
- Joseph Morales ($2,500) – University of Florida
- Nicholas Reynolds ($2,000) – Georgia Tech
- John Floyd ($1,500) – Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, GA
- Justin Monroe ($1,500) – Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA.
2006 Scholarship Recipient
At the November monthly meeting, the Savannah Post awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Megan Held, a student at Georgia Tech University.
